I have to admit that it is not easy to take a beautiful gumbo picture, but hey it tastes good and it is what it matters. I am a big big okra fan. When I saw the bag frozen okra in my freezer, this gumbo recipe came to my mind. Just like many New Orlean dishes, you start out making a roux which colors and thickens your gumbo. The nutty roux will make your kitchen smell so good right from the start. Then you add the remaining ingredients and cook it for an hour. Right before you serve it, add the okra and shrimp. Serve the sauce over the cooked jasmine rice.
